Frequently asked questions

Everything you might want to know before you press start, and a few things you didn't know you wanted to know.

The basics

What is Ate-bit?

Ate-bit is a household food management app. It brings meal planning, pantry inventory, and your recipe collection together in one place that everyone in your home can share, right in the browser with no install required.

Is Ate-bit finished?

Not yet. Ate-bit is in alpha. The core features work and real households use it every day, but you'll spot rough edges, and things change quickly. Early feedback genuinely shapes what gets built next.

What does it cost?

Ate-bit is free to try during early access. Pricing for the future hasn't been announced yet. If that ever changes, early users will hear about it well in advance.

Privacy & your data

How do I sign in? Do you see my password?

You sign in with your Google or Microsoft account, or create an account with just an email address and password. When you use Google or Microsoft, they handle authentication. Ate-bit only receives your email address and display name, and never sees your password for those accounts.

Where is my data stored?

The data you enter (pantry inventory, meal plans, recipes, and product information) is stored securely in Microsoft Azure on your behalf.

Do you sell my data?

No. We do not sell, share, or disclose your information to third parties for any purpose. The full details are in our privacy policy.

Devices

What devices does Ate-bit work on?

Any modern browser works, whether on desktop, tablet, or phone. There's nothing to install: open the site, sign in, and your household's data is right there on every screen.

Does it really run on a fridge?

It really does. Ate-bit is built to run on the touchscreen of the Samsung Family Hub fridge, so your meal plan and pantry live right where the food does. See Ate-bit on your fridge for the full story.

Getting started

How do I create an account?

Hit "Get started" and sign in with Google or Microsoft, or sign up with your email address. You'll be inside your new household in under a minute.

Can other people in my home use it too?

Yes, that's the whole point. Invite the people you live with to your household and everyone shares the same meal plan, pantry, and recipe collection, each signed in with their own account.

Can I bring in recipes I already have?

Yes. You can import recipes into your collection instead of retyping them, then organize them, plan them into your week, and cook from them on any device.
